Part 15– Cookie Dough in the Dark
I get it.
Sometimes it’s just too much effort to change.
Maybe you even think, who f*&$ing cares?
Honestly, I doesn’t matter who cares, only that you do.
It can be too easy to think (or worry) about your weight.
But you know what? There is something else that may be more important when it comes to real health. That is your waist circumference.
Ahh, just a minute! It’s not just about the “pinchable” fat under the skin (you know, that “muffin top”), it’s about the internal fat around your abdominal organs that can be the real issue.
That internal fat (AKA “visceral fat”) is known to release a bunch of hormones and inflammatory compounds that can mess with your blood sugar, blood fats (i.e triglycerides), and blood pressure.
In today’s post I’ll describe how to measure your waist circumference and then give you a bunch of actionable tips to help you reduce it. And (of course) there’s a super-nutritious recipe at the end.
If you burn more calories than you consume… you’re supposed to lose weight.
If you consume more calories than you burn… you’re supposed to gain weight.
And if you burn the same amount you consume, you’re supposed to stay the same.
Sounds pretty simple right?
I’ve been good all day.
I’ve worked hard.
I’ve had a long day.
I’ve had to deal with people and their complaints all day.
I deserve a treat.
Traveling…I get asked all the time what I pack when I travel. Besides the obvious of clothes & shoes, I always pack these extras. Years ago I wasn’t so natural. I would pack items from a drugstore for coughs, colds and sniffles, headaches, tummy aches – you know- whatever might come up when you are travelling with your family…something for stress reduction!, but over the years I’ve become a lot more preventative with keeping my immune system strong and therefore no more of those. I’ve upped my nutrition and it comes with me. I’m all natural when it comes to what I put on my skin and in my body. And yes, I feel the benefits. I’ve got natural items for digestion, headaches, too much time in the sun, staying calm, having great sleeps and more.
If you’ve gained weight and/or feel cold and tired it may just be that you have a slow metabolism.
The next question of course is “why is my metabolism slow”?
Well, that’s a great question! Since your metabolism is how your body takes food and oxygen and uses it to fuel all of its biochemical reactions there are a lot of things that can slow it down.
In this post we’ll talk about five common reasons your metabolism could be slow including: thyroid hormones, history of dieting, size and body composition, activity level, and lack of sleep. I’ve also included a tip that you can try for each one of these possible “metabolism busters”.
Plus I’ll share one of my delicious thyroid-loving mineral-containing recipes that you can make for breakfast or dessert.
In order to have the life, career, relationship and body you desire, you’re going to have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
It’s a law of the universe that the more you stretch to grow and expand, the more resistance you’re going to encounter pushing back against you. Like a plant trying to push through the earth to become an oak tree.
Nothing will help.
Why bother changing anything?
Even my doctor said it won’t matter.
There is hope….
Are you just about done with everyone’s “obsession” with cholesterol? Do you already know that cholesterol is not all bad, in fact there is “good” cholesterol?
Well, here it is. Let me bust some common cholesterol myths right now starting with the myth that “cholesterol is cholesterol” because it’s not. Depending on which of its buddies cholesterol is floating through your blood with makes a massive difference. Not to mention the fact that cholesterol is essential to good health. (Yes, you read that right!).
After I bust those myths I’ll give you the goods on what healthy lifestyle choices you can make to increase that “good” cholesterol (because medicines don’t seem to be able to do that but I will tell you what can!).
And I’ll leave you with a delicious recipe that you can use to get more veggies into your day!
If you’ve always worked out alone, you’ve been making a huge mistake.
Not only is it infinitely more enjoyable to exercise with a friend, but having someone else there will actually push you to subconsciously perform better.
