Winter 3 Day Body Replenisher

antioxidant potassium BMD 3 day detox soup

Winter detoxing is a little different than a Spring detox. At this time of year your body is craving warmth which requires eating warmer foods and we are typically hungrier. However, when we eat more, we keep our bodies in a continual digesting mode which takes energy away from detoxing and other necessary functions and makes us more vulnerable to getting sick.

So how can we make the most of detoxing in the winter cooler months?

  1. Wear warmer clothing and wear socks as energy leaves through our extremities.
  2. Take hot showers or baths
  3. Have Infra-red sauna sessions
  4. Cozy up with a great book or herbal tea in front of the fire
  5. Trade in your cooler smoothies for warming broths and soups
  6. To further activate detoxification do hot/cold hydrotherapy. When you are in the shower do 1 minute hot to 30 seconds warm or cold for a few minutes. Have a hot tub? Get in and then out, in and out!!!
  7. Drink water at room temperature.
  8. Warm detox lemonade to start your day
  9. Include warming spices in your meals, cinnamon, cloves, ginger etc.
  10. Enjoy the Antioxidant-Potassium Broth and this 3 Day Winter Detox developed by Busy Mama Detox

The brain doesn’t distinguish between a real stressor or an imagined one. If you sat in a room all by yourself, happy and content, and started thinking about the guy who did you wrong years ago, and if that story still carries a charge for you – your body would quickly shift into the physiologic stress-state – increased heart rate and blood pressure, followed by decreased digestive function.

Any guilt about food, shame about the body, or judgment about health are considered stressors by the brain and are immediately transduced into their electrochemical equivalents in the body. You could eat the healthiest meal on the planet, but if you’re thinking toxic thoughts the digestion of your food goes down and your fat storage metabolism can go up. Likewise, you could be eating a nutritionally challenged meal, but if your head and heart are in the right place, the nutritive power of your food will be increased.

Consider some of the foods you’ve given strong associations to:

“Salt will raise my blood pressure.”

“Fat will make me fatter.”

“Sugar will rot my teeth.”

“I can’t make it through the day without my cup of coffee.”

“This meat will raise my cholesterol level.”

“This calcium will build my bones.”

To a certain degree, some of these statements may be true. But is it possible that we are instigating these effects? And if these effects are the inherent result of eating these foods, can you see how we can enhance those results with the potency of our expectations?

The placebo effect is not some rare and unusual creature. Continue reading »

Fat Loss Friday

This is an excerpt from the Busy Mama Detox, an on-line or in person program offered by me…

If you want to keep fat on your body then stay on this roller coaster……

  • Skip meals (under eat)
  • Overeat
  • Eat lots of sugar (alcohol, candy)
  • Eat lots of processed foods (cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, pasta)
  • Eat carbs in the morning

Doing these things will cause a sharp spike in your insulin levels and this SHUTS OFF your FAT BURNING potential and you enter FAT STORAGE MODE. Continue reading »

Various raw treats3 Ingredient Chocolate Turtles by Leanne Vogel

Recipe type: Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Yeast-free, Corn-free, Grain-free

Serves: 12

This no bake recipe is super simple and super delicious. For step by step photos, please click on her link below.

  • 6 medjool dates, cut in half lengthwise with pit removed
  • ¾ cup dairy-free chocolate chips, melted
  • 48 raw pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Cut medjool dates in half lengthwise and remove pits.
  2. Shape each piece into a circle with your fingers. The dates should be squishy enough that this will be really, really easy to do.
  3. Lay the date circles on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, sticky side up.
  4. Press 4 pecan halves into the center of the date circles, fanning them out to look like a flower.
  5. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or saucepan with a bowl over top.
  6. Spoon ½ teaspoon of melted chocolate into the middle of the fan of pecans. Flip the turtle over and press down gently so that the chocolate touches the parchment paper.
  7. Repeat with remaining date circles and place in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden. You can keep the chocolate warm my placing back in the hot water bath.
  8. Drop each turtle into the melted chocolate and move around until it’s back is covered. Remove from the bowl and place back on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining and let cool in the freezer for 10 minutes for the chocolate to harden.

Thin is in, but FAT is where it’s at…getting healthy fats into your diet will:

cause your blood sugars to stay stable (the hormone glucagon is secreted) and your body enters FAT BURNING mode. The hormone glucagon moves fat from storage and therefore will be used as energy thus shrinking your fat cells. Fat from storage=burned fat=weight loss/stability.

Various raw treatsRaw Chocolate Macaroons

I love coconut and one day I had a craving for chocolate macaroons but wanted a healthier version. These treats are so delicious, simple to make and nutritious. This client gift box is packed with raw goodness (cosmic fudge, raspberry filled chocolates, coconut filled chocolates, haystacks, hazelnut balls)

2/3 cups raw cacao powder

½ cup pure maple syrup

¼ cup coconut oil (if not in liquid state heat slightly)

1 tsp organic vanilla

2 cups shredded organic coconut

2 tbsps. hemp hearts (optional)

2-4 tbsps. organic cranberries chopped into tiny pieces (optional)

2 tbsps. of your favorite nut chopped into tiny pieces (optional)

Mix cacao powder, maple syrup, oil, vanilla together until smooth. When blended add in coconut and any or all of the optional ingredients (I love the hemp and cranberry combo).Using a small spoon or melon scoop form 12-18 macaroons and place on parchment paper in a freezer safe container. Freeze until firm and can be stored for up to 30 days in fridge or freezer if they last that long!
