gift-keeps-giving-2Please join Tanya and Ally this Thursday December 1st from 6:30- 8pm for Karma Yoga at the Bobcaygeon Public School. Admission is by donation and all proceeds go towards a Tower Garden for the students at BPS.

Tanya and Ally watched a presentation about the impact of people growing their own food 365 days a year using a Tower Garden and they were moved to tears and wanted to set up a Karma Yoga Class to raise funds so that the Bobcaygeon Public School could have their very own Tower Garden.

One part of the presentation focused on children growing their own food in schools with a Tower Garden. There are many schools (not to mention food banks and homeless shelters, restaurants etc.) that have already incorporated the Tower Gardens into their class rooms – how exciting!!! When implementing the Tower Gardens in schools, it comes with a complete curriculum and it meets many educational requirements such as biology, chemistry, nutrition, nature, food sustainability, eco-friendly, giving, locavore Movement, organic, social responsibility, & food preparation.

A Tower Garden is:

  • An indoor 365 day garden, with no weeds, no bugs, & uses no soil.
  • It’s self-watering and self-lighting. It uses 90% less water than traditional gardening.
  • Saves you about $200+/month on your grocery bill.
  • Tower Gardens are now in many homes, Schools, Universities, Food Banks, Men & Women’s Shelters, restaurants, and even in the Chicago O’Hare airport, just to name a few places.

towerIt just makes sense to have access to fresh non-gmo, organic produce within arm’s reach, especially in Canada where we have such a short growing season. Studies show that when we have access to healthy produce our health benefits.

Yes, it’s that time of year again…your will power will be tested and your pants may get a little tighter…but does it have to be that way???

By all means, enjoy the time with your family and friends….be merry and cheerful…but also be healthy.

 

 

PLAN

Santa makes a list and checks it twice, why shouldn’t you? Seriously, planning is your ticket to success.

Making a quick Meal Plan can save you time, money and energy. Make it a habit to take 10 minutes on Sunday to write one out. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

Get picky…don’t eat it if you don’t like it.  Instead of saying you don’t like it, or you are watching your waistline…just say you aren’t hungry…no one can argue with that.

People love when you share the gift of health so either bring some of your own treats or make as a hostess gift…..

Don’t want to bake…don’t or pick something simple. Or try all the tasty raw treat suggested.

What can you do before the holidays?

-Freeze food so that in a pinch you have a great meal, snack or smoothie you can pull out. – like your greens, Quinoa meatballs, Sausage Shepherd’s Pie, or a Smoothie pack. Don’t forget about soups and stews.

-Plan out who you would like to write Christmas cards too. What gifts to you need to buy for people, and what gifts can you wrap now.

What to do on a daily basis….

Sleep – no sleepy…no nicey…we all need sleep and if you aren’t getting enough you are going to be crabby…so get some shut eye.
Move Your Body – I know the craziness of the holidays makes this one a toughie…but no excuses…plan it into your life right now and treat it like the most important “do not miss” event!
