Nothing will help.
Why bother changing anything?
Even my doctor said it won’t matter.
There is hope….
Excuse: I’m an addict; it’s a medical condition so I can’t be helped.
Susy* deeply believes that her addiction to sugar is a medical condition because she has formed this belief from her thoughts and what others have told her.
As a result she has Type 2 Diabetes and will just take the medication because there is nothing else that she can do.
Her doctor said that a diet change will only help a little and that she will be on “meds” the rest of her life.
She feels she can’t do anything to change it so she doesn’t.
New Belief: I have control over my health. My choices affect my health. I will use food to create health instead of take it away from me.
We are what we believe.
As long as Susy holds onto the excuse, so it will be.
Her language is creating her reality.
I truly believe that when we begin to notice our words, we can start to make changes. Excuses, sadly, can also be easier than acknowledging the problem and changing it and Susy has admitted that to me.
