Part 12– Cookie Dough in the Dark

I wanted so badly to believe this was TRUE.

In fact, I did think I was the EXCEPTION.

I thought that it didn’t matter what I ate, because I was doing this.

Maybe you are holding on to this excuse to.

Excuse #3 – I worked out so I can eat it.


You can’t out train a bad diet.


Which really sucks, because that’s what I want to believe.


I wanted to be able to eat CRAP (in my case, sugar, alcohol, home-baked cookies, buttertarts…you get the idea) and think that I was above anything bad happening to my health.


That I could stay healthy and fit and lookin’ hot to trot.


And I did hold on to this belief for a long time because I was in




This is a biggie in my industry. People, including myself back then, work out and then think they can eat what they want.


Our body is our temple and I was destroying mine from the inside out.


But I couldn’t see my insides or the destruction I was doing, so it didn’t matter.


This was me…..


I was running on the “acidic treadmill”.


I’d eat acidic food, drink acidic drinks, hit the gym cuz’ I got to wear off all that food & drink.

Exercise like a maniac (which creates acidity), hey, I just exercised, I can eat whatever I want….REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT…until I was overfat, exhausted, sick and tired.


But now I know that I was lying to myself.


My body was craving proper nutrition but I really didn’t know how to get it and stick with it.


But I do now. But it took time & patience to ingrain new habit loops into my days, weeks and months.


Now, I don’t work out because of what I ate.



I work out because I love how I feel when I work out. I love my toned, strong body. I love the energy from my workouts. I love the balance I’ve found in my workouts.


I don’t have insane sugar carvings because I’m out of that acidic loop.


I’ve learned to feed myself the proper nutrition my body craves but that I ignored because I was in my sugar coma.


One thing I started to do was fuel my body properly after my workouts. Check it out.


It may seem scary to change, too long to get the results you want. But all it takes is one simple shift and you’d be amazed at what can happen.


I didn’t think I would ever be able to not be addicted to sugar. But I’ve changed. It’s no longer controlling my life. But I changed because I took action and you can too.
