I’m often asked how can I get so many things done and to share them…so here it is. How I do my Busy Mama laundry.

 

Step 1: Pick a day

Saturday mornings are the mornings that I do laundry and I only do it Saturday morning. Everyone knows this and everyone is responsible to have their laundry in the laundry basket ready to be washed. Saturdays are for washing and maybe folding (sometimes I hang dry so it needs longer). Sunday is for folding.

 

Step 2: Folding

Saturday afternoon/evening or Sunday morning I fold the laundry. If things are not turned the right side in I don’t fix it (I used to but now they are old enough to do this) I leave as is.  I match socks and fold them in half.

I put all the kids’ laundry in their laundry basket and they own it from here on in.  They are in charge of putting it away. I leave my husband stuff on the bed or on a chair and he puts his stuff away. I put my clothes away.

 

Step 4 – Rinse and repeat

By Saturday night, there is new dirty clothes that will accumulate until I rinse and repeat my Busy Mama Laundry!

 

What can your children do to help you, the busy mama, with the process of laundry? Are they old enough to be responsible to put their clothes in the laundry bin for washing? Are they old enough to put their own laundry away or to do their own laundry? It’s all about teaching them to be responsible for their clothes and to be respectful of my time. When the ground rules (regarding anything for that matter!) are set, everyone knows what to expect.

20160417_102550_resizedI don’t know where I discovered this idea, but for many years this is how I manage bed sheets!

I take my sheets & pillowcases and I fold them up. Then I use one of the pillow cases and wrap everything in it.

20160417_102617_resizedThen I throw it up to the top of my closet with everything else. Yes, sometimes it does fall to the floor and I get to throw it again!

I love this process because it’s quick, easy and I always know that my sheets are happily together (it can get confusing when you have sooooo many white sheets!!)
