Often times my client say, “if I exercise more I can eat more right.”

Depends …what’cha eating???

If you’re thinking breads, pastas, muffins, fries, chips, cookies etc. (you get the idea–the processed stuff – which they usually are) the answer is, “Depends on what your goals are.”

If you want to feel like the Pillsbury Dough Boy or you don’t mind extra padding on your body or low energy, then by all means, gobble them up.

If you want the fat to melt away, the pounds to drop and your energy to soar, then the best thing is to focus on upping your greens, vegetables with some nuts, seeds and fruit.

It’s not the simple case of just eating less or eating more but rather what you’re eating that determines the quantity.

“It’s increasingly recognized that regular consumption of certain foods leads to diet-induced inflammation; which in turn sets the stage for insulin resistance, leptin resistance and other conditions that go hand in hand with overweight and obesity. These conditions make it very hard to lose weight and maintain healthy body weight.” Quoted from Natural News article Inflammation is a major reason why you can’t lose weight, August 6th 2012.

Every body is unique so you need to get honest with yourself and notice the food you’re eating and how it makes you feel and what it is doing to your body.

Sugar, grains, refined vegetable oils and certain dairy products were never a part of ancestral diets and therefore they showed no signs of obesity.  Recent literature shows that humans are poorly adapted to these modern foods and that they may promote obesity influence and inflammation.

Action plan

I’m not a fan of someone telling me not to eat this  or that, so I don’t tell my clients what they can’t eat (don’t we already know what really isn’t beneficial to our waistlines and health??). I really want them to pay attention to their food choices. I want them to be empowered about what they decide to fuel their bodies with.

I use the “crowding out” approach. Suggestions are made as to what a balanced plate looks like to reach their goals of increased energy, decreased inflammation, and decreased body fat & weight. It starts by adding local, organic non-gmo vegetables and fruits to your daily intake. We all know that we need minimum 9-13 servings of veg & fruit per day. If you are getting a variety of fruits & veggies each and every day that’s super fantastic. If you need some help, like I do to meet the minimums each day and to get the variety, check out my little trick that is so super simple.

When clients are empowered about what they put in their mouths, meet the basic nutritional requirements of their cells and  move their bodies, their weight and body composition begin to shift naturally. Our aim is to make these changes become your lifestyle.

But just in case you want to hear it anyway……

Eat processed foods, high-density carbohydrates and other modern food staples which will increase inflammation and promote weight gain. Sit still and don’t move. Drink sugary drinks. Take medications. Think negative thoughts about how you can’t lose weight. All of these things will surely guarantee that you will continue down the road of poor health, inflammation, aging and feeling tired, blah and puffy!

I know you’ve heard this all before but there really is no way around it. If there was I would be the first to tell you.
Are you ready to find your flow? What changes to your plate will achieve the goals that you want?

“This program works. In the last week, by simply walking a few times and replacing our simple carbs with vegetables, my wife and I have more energy and have lost weight and body fat. We can actually taste the goodness of our food and we’re paying attention to our habits.”

Mr. B lost 9.8lbs and 1.9% body fat

Mrs. B lost 5.4lbs and 2.5% body fat

We were scared when we stepped on the scale and in utter shock when we saw our new weight and body fat. We wanted to jump for joy and realized that this program works. We are motivated to continue! – Mr. & Mrs. B – Fenelon Falls

Results after one month

“When I started the program, I thought I ate quite well, but realized that there was a lot I was “sneaking” in that really set me back.  When my 2nd child was born I suffered from postpartum depression and have been on medication ever since.  For the first time in 8 years I felt I could go off this medication and I am positive it is hugely part of the BUSY MAMA DETOX.  My mental state is amazing – who knew! – Mrs. N, Bobcaygeon

Results after 8 months

“The best decision we’ve made regarding our health was consulting with Tanya.  Her enthusiasm to help people gain control of their health, her motivational stories and her enthusiasm have helped us lose weight & inches and gain confidence.  Tanya made us feel comfortable right from the start.  We look forward to each personal training and coaching session with her.  She keeps us on track and we know that she is always there for us – just a call or an email away!” – Doug & Sue, Kinmount

Doug has lost 50lbs and 15% body fat

Sue has lost 10lbs and 6% body fat

They have both kept their weight & body fat off. They have integrated healthy habits into their daily living.
