Raw Chocolate Rum Balls
Michelle, a regular participant at my classes, has done a 360 with her lifestyle including regular exercise and healthier eating habits. Her gift to me last year were these wonderful raw rum balls. The recipe is from Simply Raw Kitchen by Natasha Kyssa
- 3 cups dry almonds
- 3/4 maple syrup
- 1 cup raw cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp dark rum or triple that 😉
- 1/4-1/2 cup cacao nibs, coarsely ground
In food processor, process almonds until flour like. Add ground almonds to mixing bowl. Stir in remainder of ingredients, except ground cacao nibs, and mix to combine well. Form into balls and roll into cacao nibs.

In my quest for cleaner eating, I found Upayanaturals and they ship right to your door …very convenient!
Here are the following items that I buy for them.
o Almond and other nut butters (raw and organic)
o Hemp seeds
o Lucuma powder
o Goji berries (Heaven Mountain from Ron Teeguarden are the BEST I have ever tasted)
o Organic cacao nibs
o Organic cinnamon (it’s the best)
o Organic unsweetened shredded coconut , coconut butter, coconut oil
o Organic vanilla
o Pumpkin seeds
o Raw cacao powder
o Raw cashews, actually all of my nuts come from here(which I soak and rehydrate why? Nuts have enzyme inhibitors so soaking gets rid of them (then I like them crunchy so I rehydrate)
o Himalayan Salt
o Sun Warrior Protein Powder
o Vitamineral Greens (to add a super charge to your smoothies and can even add to your chocolate recipes – start with a 1/4tsp and increase from there – let your taste buds adjust)
o Anything from Ron Teeguarden, Health Force Nutritionals, and Living Libations
Of course you can also visit your local health food or bulk store and buy your organic ingredients there. Or if you are sitting at home and want to get started, check out Upayanaturals – Canada’s Largest Raw Food Store with high quality products!
