Love your Ta Ta’s aka…breasts

I was reading the book, How Not to Die by Micheal Greger, M.D. and with Valentine’s Day approaching (I know it’s about the heart and love…but your breasts are very close to your heart!!) I thought I’d share some neat tidbits….

Specifically Michael Greger is discussing how to avoid getting breast cancer. Unfortunately each year about 230,000 American women are diagnosed and 40,000 die from it. But, there are things you can do NOW. Cancer doesn’t grow over night, it takes years, sometimes decades, to form.

“People who are doing the right thing by improving their lifestyles in hopes of preventing cancer may in fact be successfully treating it as well. Don’t wait until you are diagnosed to change your lifestyle, start NOW, it is NEVER too late.”

group MM class shot (8)Exercise:

Darwin said, it’s the survival of the fittest and when it comes to exercise…get fit. Sometimes we get caught up on how much we weigh but it’s deeper than that. Movement offers you a preventative measure against breast cancer (and more) because it tends to lower you circulating estrogen levels. Five hours a week of vigorous exercise can lower estrogen and progesterone exposure by about 20%.

Get Your Greens:

By adding cruciferous (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, kale, etc.) veggies into your daily diet you can significantly reduce your risk of breast cancer. For example, broccoli boosts the activity of detoxifying enzymes in your liver, therefore if you are eating a steak off the BBQ, having a side of broccoli will reduce your carcinogenic load.

These are powerful little seeds that are one of the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids, but even more exciting is their lignan content. Lignans are phytoestrogens that can dampen the effects of the body’s own estrogen. Tossing a tablespoon into your morning smoothie will help to reduce your risk of having breast cancer.

Massage Your Breasts:

In addition to those tips, I have been using the Breast Health Massage Oil from Living Libations for two years.  I absolutely love that I am taking a simple step to keep my breasts healthy.

By simply applying a few drops to my palms and then massaging around and on my breasts I am stimulating the circulation & lymph drainage thereby regenerating the movement of fluids in and to my breasts.

 Thyroid Imbalance

This is an except for the Busy Mama Detox Program regarding Thyroid Imbalance….

I hear so many people having issues with their thyroid that I wanted to share some information with you from The Sunfood Diet Success System by David Wolfe7.

The thyroid is a large endocrine gland situated at the base of the neck and controls your basal metabolic rate. An underactive thyroid slows the metabolic rate and increases the chance of obesity whereas an overactive thyroid speeds up metabolism leaving one excessively thin. Continue reading »

Hemp Kale Salad

This is one of my favourite salads (quantities adapted slightly) from Leanne Vogel’s e-book The Keto Beginning: Complete Guide +30-day Meal Plan.

I picked up her e-book and have been loving a lot of her recipes. I also based many of the “fat snacks” that I offered in my Gain Energy Lose Fat sessions from her book.

I use this dressing on many of my other salads now instead of using maple syrup based dressing…I’m loving the new flavours. Continue reading »

Taco Salad

This is one of my kid’s favourite meals. They get a ton of greens, a great source of protein and some healthy fats.  I usually make about triple this recipe and freeze it. This is definitely a quick and easy dinner meal and they also like taking it for lunch.

Taco seasoning

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tbsp oregano, dried

½ tsp paprika

1 ½ tsp ground cumin

½ tsp salt and pepper

pinch cayenne

(mix the above ingredients together and will keep in air tight container for 3 months. Can double/triple the recipe so that you have some ready for next time)

You’ve seen these in many of my smoothie recipes because they are SUPERFOODS, and our cells love superfoods.

Which one is better?  Check out what both have to offer and see if you can choose.  I can’t pick a winner so I use one and then the other to get the best of both!

Why choose Vitamineral Greens?

  • It’s 100 vegan, gluten free & yeast free
  • It is easy to use.  Mix it in  your smoothies or with a juice and has a slightly green taste.

I met Jameth Sheridan at the Longevity Conference and chatted with him.  He exudes passion for health and longevity. Since our encounter I have consumed anything that he has made.

Hear the passion in this statement from him, “Green foods are perhaps the most healing foods on the planet, and the single most important addition to a diet you can make. They are foundational. For over 26 years, I have deeply and passionately immersed myself full time into providing the best possible foundation. My deepest passion is for the earth and all of its inhabitants to be healed on a core level. Mother Nature gave us the substances we need for healing. It is my life path duty and my great honor to assemble them for you.”

“Compromise is not an option. Hype is Nothing. Substance is Everything. Vitamineral Green™ is the best possible green food that I can offer.”
