Picture for a moment, if you will, a pile of garbage that has been left out in the sun and it’s rotting. It stinks! There are flies and maggots crawling all over it. It affects your blood, tissues and cellular fluid and when toxic, as we all are, it becomes the breeding ground for disease and degeneration. appleWhile food (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) is the gas that allows our bodies to run (macronutrients), we also need oil, in the form of micronutrients (from vegetable and fruits) or else our engine will fail.

As depicted by this apple. The one of the right shows our cells when nourished properly with whole foods, while the one of the left shows our cells rusting as they do on a daily basis.


Every time we exercise, train, workout – whatever you want to call it- it causes oxidative damage (the apple on the left side) to our healthy cells (in fact every time we breathe we create rusting from within known as free radical damage, oxidative stress, reactive oxygen species. Releasing My Sugar Shame

Once upon a time I would go and buy 4 Snickers bars and eat them all at once and then I would work out on the treadmill to try and get rid of the disgust and calories that I had for myself.

Other times when my husband and children would leave the house and I would start baking cookies. I would eat the batter, then eat all of the cookies while making banana bread and then eat that too. Then I would hop on the treadmill and again run off my shame, my disgust and the calories that I had just consumed. Continue reading »

This article by Raphael Kellman, M.D, caught my attention because as you may or may not know, I do love my sugar (did).  Something sweet after my meals seals the deal and I hate to admit it, but sugar comes calling my name when I’m feeling tired.  I don’t know why I just don’t have a nap??

Over the years I have definitely upgraded to healthier sweet options such as the raw treats (raw chocolate pudding, Raw Raspberry Cream Filled Chocolate Treats)   I blog about and only consuming home-baked goods.  I had to put some parameters in somewhere so anything store bought is off limits for me!.  I also know that I do like a little sugar and perhaps that is the problem because I don’t want to think that I can’t ever have it again (that makes me crazy and binge – just being honest) – it’s one of life’s treats in moderation.  Think of all the sweetness in fruits, dates, and raw dark chocolate.
