It was late, almost 9 at night, when Justin Holden pulled the icy pizza box from the refrigerator at the Brookville Supermarket in Washington, D.C.

He stood in front of the open door, scanning the nutrition facts label.

A close relative had recently had a heart attack, and in the back of his mind there was this idea stalking him: If he put too much salt in his body, it would eventually kill him.

For this reason the information in the label wasn’t exactly soothing: 1,110 milligrams of sodium seemed like a lot.

Christiane goes on to explain that when something does go wrong in your body, it’s a wake-up call to pay attention. Perhaps you haven’t been conscious of the issue or emotion until it shows up physically. Have the courage to go deep within yourself and honestly look at what is going on in your life, what are your thoughts and beliefs that you keep repeating in your mind.

Love Your Gallbladder

My mum had her gallbladder out in the late 70’s, my sister had hers taken out in 2014 after a year of cleaning up her diet and lifestyle. About 750,000 people have it removed every year and whatever you choose to do is your choice. However, your gallbladder is not insignificant. While you can survive without it, once it is removed, your body must work harder to digest fats and remove cholesterol from your body.

Recently a client of mine was having gallbladder issues and a holistic practitioner recommended Chanca Piedra, which is a well known plant from the Amazon Rainforest. What are you saying to yourself about your workouts or your potential desire to start working out??

Do any of the above thoughts ripple through your mind?

If so, you are sabotaging yourself and any results that you want…honey, you’ve got to flip your thoughts around and start practicing positive self-talk. You’ve got to believe in yourself.

Self-defeating talk leads to poor performance, says Michael Mantell, PhD in Behavior Science for the American Council on Exercise, and I will even add that it sabotages you from even starting.

See if you can implement these thoughts into your mind…

“My legs are powerful and allow me to sit, stand, get on and off the toilet, in and out of my car.  I so appreciate my legs and I want to make them even stronger to carry me forward into the years that lie ahead. I’m going to do what I can to continue to strengthen my legs.”

What you tell yourself vibrates throughout your entire body. You are a human being not a failure.  Can you hold yourself in a push up position (on your knees/against a wall – have you tried every option?) and lower yourself 1cm? Then yes, you are beginning to do a push-up.  Instead of giving up, break the exercise or task into its smallest part and start from there. Trust me, we do a lot of this in class…it’s not about the end result..it’s about the journey.

A scale doesn’t measure the weight of your memories or your daily stress, the smiles you display and the lives that you touch, the hours that you sleep, the level of your hormones, the brightness of your future…it just measures your physical mass when you step upon the scale. And for all these reasons and many more, we don’t need a scale to tell us whether to continue to exercise or not……dig deeper than the scale and know that you are performing miracles in your body every time you do something healthy.

The present moment holds the power….right here, right now, sit up straight, take a breath and feel the energy travel up and down your spine, connect with your “tingle”, smile, maybe even squeeze your butt cheeks or stand up and stretch.  Stop thinking that you have to commit to an hour…it’s always the simple things that add up….then you will be wanting to spend more time moving because you become inspired by how this simple exercise makes you feel.  I always tell my clients that the hardest thing is starting, the hardest thing is getting to class…but once you are here…there are never any regrets.

You are stronger than any excuse

You are more powerful in the present moment

You are a magnificent human being capable of magnificence

“I Can’t have THAT

It’s Bad for Me

It’s a Cheat Day

I’m on a Diet

I Can’t do that

This is Hard”

 

Any of them sound familiar?

Everything starts as a thought. EVERYTHING, from the desk you are sitting at, to the car that you drive, to the dinner you will serve tonight. What you think, you cause to appear in your life.

You are always planting thought seeds and they will grow, some now, some next week, others in a year. Your mind is a complex machine and you need to be aware of the language of your thoughts as they are the life you are living today.

Why can’t you have THAT?

You can but it may make you feel less energetic, bloated, it may conflict with your long term goal, etc. The thing is, you can have it; but you may choose not to have it…very different thought process. Lack vs. Abundance.

 

MondayAre you saying, “I will start on Monday.”?

If so, you are caught in the DIET trap.  Adopting a healthy lifestyle frees you from start and end dates.  It is a process.  It is about making small changes that stick today and every day. Remember your amygdala (commit to teeny tiny changes). Don’t know about your amygdala and its power – google it or join the Busy Mama Detox to diffuse it.

 

That’s bad for me. Is it? 

There are healthier food choices than others but to label foods this way is part of the diet mentality and it also puts negative energy into your food choice.  If you only eat bananas, it can become an unhealthy choice because you are not eating a variety of healthy foods, but bananas are good for you.  People label all “Fat” as bad, but without the healthy fats, you’d be dead (little extreme but you get the point), and with too much fat (and especially the wrong kind) you can be unhealthy.

When you eat something that’s not a 10/10 on the nutrition scale but you really want it, eat it (just not every day all the time). Embrace it with joy, eat it with love, don’t smoother it with guilt.

 

I can’t do THAT? This is HARD.

Why, what’s holding you back from doing what you want…dig a little deeper and find out.  You deserve what you want…do you know what you want?

better focusMake sure to write down your goals and inspirations.  Read them to keep you motivated.

 

We THRIVE with Rules, not a lot but we do like them! They help with structure, with flow, and ease of routine. They become your habits. What are your rules?

 Here are some of my Simple EVERY DAY Rules that may help with your success:

Water upon rising                                       Detox lemonade

Juice or smoothie for breakfast                Salad or veggies before or as my meal

Move my body                                             Healthy fats with my meals

Connect with my breath

Notice the choices that I make and the consequences. Realize if I want to keep repeating the consequences, if not, then change the choice!

 

Were these always my rules….NO….but I can honestly say that in my mid 40’s I feel better than I ever have.  I am rarely bloated, I have sooooo much energy, I’m happy, light, I feel a sense of freedom, my moods are softer, and I have more patience just to mention a few.  I truly believe with every cell in my body that it’s because of the thoughts of wanting to live the healthiest life possible with an abundance of energy.  I want to THRIVE as I get older.  Those thoughts translate into fueling my body with food infused with love (homemade), health (energetic) and gratitude.  I move my body because it feels good and I want to always be able to MOVE. I work out my hands, fingers, feet and toes as much as I do my abs.

 

May you be blessed with an abundance of thoughts that plant the seeds of the things that you want to grow in your life.
