Picture for a moment, if you will, a pile of garbage that has been left out in the sun and it’s rotting. It stinks! There are flies and maggots crawling all over it. Do you blame the flies and the maggots for being there? Do you try to poison them with chemicals to get rid of them? No, you get rid of the garbage and when the garbage is gone the flies and maggots disappear naturally. Today, modern medicine treats the flies and maggots. We have a pill for everything, but it is not addressing the root cause of the problem. It is my heartfelt hope that you begin to realize that you need to heal the internal pollution within you. The effects of toxins that you eat, drink, breath, put on your skin etc., create the internal landscape of your being. It affects your blood, tissues and cellular fluid and when toxic, as we all are, it becomes the breeding ground for disease and degeneration. The cause of illness is not because of germs, genes or congenital defects (the flies), it’s what is attracting them. Now busy mama, grab your “superwoman detox cape” and let’s get into ACTION.
Establishing a healthy morning routine that works for YOU, sets the tone for the whole day and is the foundation for long term success.
Every morning you get a NEW start…yippee! While sleeping your body has been busy cleaning up what you did to it the previous day…how great is that?
How is your current morning ritual working for you? Are you running out of the house with a cup of coffee in your hand, scattered and already stressed? Or did you take the time to nourish yourself with water, your cell food, perhaps have a moment to ground yourself and breathe in the beauty and abundance of the day ahead?
Your morning ritual is an important part of preparing you for your day ahead.
Here are some strategies that you can implement into your morning routine. Pick the ones that work for you and add them one at a time so that they stick before adding a new one.
- Conscious breaths
- Allow yourself a few moments to breathe deeply. Expand your lungs with fresh air and then exhale the stale air. Give thanks to all the abundance in your life. Take a moment to set your intentions for the day and ground yourself.
- Water or water cocktail
- Have a glass of water ready on your bedside table so that when you have finished your conscious breaths & intentions, it’s ready and waiting for you when you put your feet on the floor. Don’t force the water consumption but it is the first thing to do before anything else enters your mouth. Try this raspberry water
You may think that this is such a simple thing to do but it’s also easy not to do. About 75% of the population is chronically dehydrated. Being dehydrated can be misinterpreted for feeling hungry and most of us will reach for food before a glass of clean, alkaline drinking water. In a study conducted at the University of Washington, it was shown that one glass of water effectively shut off the “midnight munchies” syndrome in 100% of the dieters tested.
Dehydration hinders your detox efforts and is one of the primary causes of daytime fatigue, sluggish metabolism, depression and inability to concentrate. According to Tao of Detox, dehydration has also been linked to cancer and chronic pain in the back and joints.
Don’t overlook the importance of taking small simple steps for your health.
Overfed and Under Nourished
Our cells are craving nutrition. We may eat a lot of food, but most of it is deficient in what our cells (which make us up) are craving. We are deficient in Whole Food Nutrition. The first step to feeding and detoxing your cells is to give them the nutrients that they need to thrive. In doing so, you will also reduce your cravings and increase your energy levels. If you are eating a “sound diet” with a variety of vine-ripened, clean, organic, non-gmo, or home grown food and getting 9-15 servings of fruits & vegetables a day, you may be able to skip this step.
