Thirsty Thursday – Get your Vitamin C Booster Smoothie

Does this ever happen to you…. I sat down to type this blog and then I got sidetracked!!!

How did I get side tracked? My “busy mama” day unfolded like this….From clients, to classes, to tapping sessions, to picking up dog food, getting mail, going to the bank, making meatballs, getting dinner ready, looking at the empty granola jar knowing that I need to make more, to trying this smoothie so that I could taste test it first before I posted it – and it’s a good one, to dog walking, picking up a kid and going to the dentist, then hockey….and now…a week later….sitting here preparing this blog so that you can enjoy this fabulous smoothie packed with a punch of Goodness and loaded with Vitamin C.

Why consume Vitamin C?

• It lowers deadly inflammation

• Helps build healthy collagen…important for skin and muscle

• Keeps you healthy in the thick of flu season or any time of year

But choose your Vitamin C carefully. Many Vitamin C supplements contain ascorbic acid which is synthetic. Instead chose Vitamin C powder made from acerola cherries or camu camu. Or better yet, as nature intended get it at it’s best. This is what I take. Whole Food in a capsule. Loaded with Vitamin C in a whole food form with lots of other veggies (that you can’t taste).  I haven’t been sick in ages now that I’m feeding my body the nutrients that it needs to function optimally!

So here’s the recipe!!!

  • 2 tbsp goji berries
  • 1 yellow pepper, stem and seeds removed
  • 1 medium orange, peeled
  • 3/4 cup coconut water or almond milk (I used coconut water)
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch cayenne
  • ¼ of a lemon, peeled
  • 1-2 tsp flax seed
  • 1 tbsp MCT oil
  • 1 tbsp Truly Natural Acerola Cherry Powder or 1 of each Juice Plus+ capsules 
  • 1-2 tbsp Grass fed Collagen (optional)

Put everything in your Vitamix or blender and blend until smooth…delicious. Let me know how you like it!!!
